Healing begins when children feel safe enough to be themselves

Does your child experience big emotions that feel overwhelming—for both of you? You might find yourself thinking, “my child is so sensitive,” or feeling unsure how to help when their reactions seem intense or unpredictable.

Maybe they worry often, get easily upset, or struggle with changes, school, or friendships. At times, it can be hard to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface. You may also notice your child doubting themselves, needing constant reassurance, or having difficulty feeling confident and secure.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and your child isn’t “too much.” They are simply having a hard time and may need the right kind of support to feel understood, safe, and regulated.

Common areas of support include:

  • Emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Helping children feel understood, accepted, and safe

  • Supporting them in making sense of their emotions

  • Confidence, resilience, and a sense of security

  • Anxiety, worries, and fears (including fear of making mistakes)

  • Highly sensitive children (including sensory and emotional sensitivities)

  • Big emotions and intense reactions

  • Perfectionism and self-criticism

  • ADHD tendencies (including hyper-activity and impulsivity)

  • Transitions and change

  • Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate form of therapy that uses play as a child’s natural language to help them express feelings, process experiences, and build emotional skills and tools.

Young children often don’t have the words to explain what they’re going through. Instead of relying on conversation alone, play therapy allows them to communicate through toys, energy, behavior, imagination and creative expression.
